Corvette ZR1 2009
The ZR1 changes the atmospheric suction from the V8 for a Eaton compressor ( for first time ) that increases the potency to 628 CV and the torque to 81 mkg. Other technical adjustments configure the most powerful and fast Corvette in the history.
The original V8 motor has “grown” (from his early version) in cylinder capacity up to the 6.2 liters and now reaches the 628 CV of potency to 6,500 rpm thanks to the volumetric Eaton turbocompressor. The motor refrigeration has been improved recurring to a new water circuit, independent from the main, besides of some specific admission tubes to guarantee a better fuel mixture.
To transfer all this enormous force to the wheels now we have in the new ZR1 two disc clutch ( in the Z06 version was standard ). They calculated again the developments of the gearbox in order that the 6 gear pushes the Corvette to 320 km/h.
The brakes are made in carbon to reduce weight. At front : 394 mm and has 6 piston caliper and at the back measure 380 mm with 4-piston caliper.
The amazing tires that hold the Michelin Pilot PS2 335/25 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 besides of pretty had been re-designed to lighten weight.
As to the suspension: magnetic ride shock absorbers with magnetic fluid. Also in the chassis they reduced weight applying carbon to all the elements, for example the carbon roof ( -3,5 kilos ).
